Support for Movember Foundation

This year Emma Highton from our accounts team is raising money for an amazing cause. Movember.

Movember is the leading charity changing the face of men’s health. They are addressing some of the biggest health issues faced by men: prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health and suicide prevention.

They know what works for men, and how to find and fund the most innovative research to have both a global and local impact. They are independent of government funding, so they can challenge the status quo and invest quicker in what works. In 15 years they have funded more than 1,200 men’s health projects around the world.

By 2030 they aim to reduce the number of men dying prematurely by 25%.

Emma will be undertaking a 10k run to raise money for such a great cause. You can donate to her just giving page HERE.

Emma is due to run the 10k on the 18th of November and everyone at Armstrongs wishes her the best of luck. This year will be the fourth year that Emma has completed the 10k run in support of Movember.

This is not the first time members of our accounts team have raised money for charity. As a Result, Macmillan Cancer Research and Theo’s Warriors have benefited from their efforts.

Armstrongs take new delivery of Case 2050 bulldozer

Armstrongs Group recently took new delivery of a Case 2050 bulldozer to be used at our Pilkington quarry.

Pilkington Quarry covers 53 acres near the town of Horwich and has been operational for in excess of one hundred years.

Pilkington 1 is exhausted but carries permissions to receive 2M tones of inerts waste, whilst Pilkington 2 is as yet unmined but carries a pale buff/brown highly durable gritstone.

“The largest in the CASE lineup, the new 2050M dozer was designed with mass and muscle in mind. It offers up to 14% more power than the 1850K, nearly 81,000 lbs of drawbar pull and a robust, box-style C-frame engineered to withstand extreme blade forces. But this 24-ton mammoth is also about less; less time spent on maintenance, less fuel usage thanks to industry-exclusive SCR technology and less worry thanks to the premium protection of ProCare. Simply put, from fine grading to heavy dozing, the 2050M gets more done.” – Case

Macmillan Coffee Morning Star Baker

After much deliberation from our team of experts on our cake judging panel (Emma and Sam) it has been decided that the winner, and Star Baker, of our Great Armstrongs Bake Off for Macmillan Coffee Morning is Barry O’Hanlon.

Barry is our Amix Concrete general manager and delivered a phenomenal showstopper- A Cherry bakewell Tart. Here you can see Barry being awarded with his prize which is tea towels and oven gloves so he can continue to make great bakes. Although suspicions arise that it was actually Barry’s wife who baked the cake, the award of Star Baker still stands.

Well Done Barry! We think that deserves a Hollywood Handshake!

Did you get to sample any of our delicious bakes?

Ready Mix Concrete Community Projects

On Thursday 6th September 2018 our brilliant team at AMIX Concrete supplied a mixer full of concrete to a local community build here in Bolton. At the time of writing the project itself is top secret, but we are proud to be able to serve and help our community.

We believe here at Armstrongs Group that we should invest in our local communities so that they too invest in us, that is why we are proud to be relied upon to serve our community where fit.
