Armstrongs Begins Aggregate Production at Fletcher Bank Quarry

For more than a century, Fletcher Bank Quarry has supplied stone for buildings and infrastructure across Ramsbottom and the surrounding area. In July 2026, we became part of that story when our team began producing aggregates at the site in partnership with its owner, Marshalls.

Fletcher Bank gives us another base from which to support customers across Bury, Rossendale, Lancashire and the wider North West. It also allows us to build on the quarry’s local legacy while bringing Armstrongs’ experience and personal service to more projects across the region.

A Historic Quarry in Ramsbottom

Fletcher Bank’s Carboniferous sandstone has long been used to produce materials for buildings, roads and infrastructure throughout the local area.

The quarry is part of the local landscape, so taking on production there comes with responsibility. As a family-run North West business, we understand the importance of operating responsibly, supporting the local economy and being a good neighbour to the surrounding communities.

Our team is producing a broad range of construction aggregates at Fletcher Bank, including:

• Crusher run materials
• Sands

These materials can support road construction, drainage, utilities, earthworks and general building projects.

Products from Fletcher Bank are available for local collection and regional delivery, giving customers across Greater Manchester and Lancashire another convenient source of construction aggregates.

What Fletcher Bank Means for Armstrongs

Fletcher Bank increases our production capacity and extends the area we can serve.

The operation complements our existing network of five quarries at Pilkington and Montcliffe in Horwich, Brinscall near Chorley, Waddington Fell near Clitheroe and Shap in Cumbria.

Across these locations, we produce and supply primary and recycled aggregates, rock armour and bespoke dimensional stone. Our wider group also supplies ready-mixed concrete for construction, infrastructure, civil engineering and architectural projects.
