Wire Saw Operative ( Trainee ) ( 1 Position )

Large Block Slabbing & Cutting

This includes programming & operating  large wire saws to produce workable stone pieces for the workshop team (dimensional, walling, masons) and overseas contracts.

The operative will learn on multiple wire saws, this includes profiling work, experience with CAD is an advantage but not essential as training can be given. A good understanding of math and dimensions is essential. A keen eye for detail is important as the operative will be responsible for quality checks on the stone before handing over to the workshop.

This is a hands on role and the operative should be physically able to perform manual lifting when necessary.

Loading and unloading of the working area using a Fork Lifts and stacking slab safely.

Previous experience would be an advantage however Forklift (Tele / Counter Balance) training can be given. The operative will be responsible for tidiness and maintenance of all wire saws and the working area.

The operative will be working as part of an experienced team, all training will be given.

The team is responsible for the tidiness and maintenance of the workshop (no exceptions).

For overseas collections the operative is expected to have the role of Banks man to assist in traffic control and the loading of large stone blocks, all paperwork completed neatly and legible hand writing is essential.

This is all weather work as the wire saws are outside in the elements

A full UK driving license is required.

Good communication skills are essential, able to follow instruction and work to deadlines.

We expect some degree of flexibility when it comes to working hours and job roles, occasionally staff will be required to perform different tasks and work additional hours.

Working hours are Mon-Fri (7am – 6pm) Sat (7am-1pm, paid as overtime).

All PPE provided, all training provided.
