Banker Mason ( Trainee ) ( 1 Position )

This is a temporary role subject to performance

Working under/with our Stone Mason the candidate will learn and perform various methods of dressing stone to produce finished products to deadline, this includes:

  • Grinding
  • Sandblasting
  • Granite Polishing
  • Flame Texturing
  • Various finishes eg, hammered
  • Hand carving
  • Sign stencil

After successfully completing the probationary period the candidate will be expected to work unsupervised on small finishing tasks, these include:

  • Window cills, heads, jambs
  • Coping stone, pier caps
  • Small Stone signs

The candidate will be using powered and pneumatic tools, experience with angle grinders is essential.

The candidate must have a good understanding of Maths / English and able to work from technical drawings. Communication skills are extremely important and the ability to follow instruction a must.

A keen eye for detail is essential as the candidate will be responsible for strict  quality checks before finalising the stone for the customers.

This is a hands on role and the candidate should be physically able to perform manual lifting when necessary. Loading and unloading of the working area using Fork Lifts.

Previous experience would be an advantage however Forklift (Tele / Counter Balance) training can be given.

The candidate will be responsible for tidiness and maintenance of all mason tools and working areas. The candidate will be working as part of an experienced team, all training (where needed) will be given. The team is responsible for the tidiness and maintenance of the workshop (no exceptions).

A full UK driving license is required.

Good communication skills are essential, able to follow instruction and work to deadlines.

We expect some degree of flexibility when it comes to working hours and job roles, occasionally staff will be required to perform different tasks and work additional hours.

Working hours are Mon-Fri (7am – 6pm) Sat (7am-1pm, paid as overtime).

All PPE provided, all training provided.
